Electrolytic polishing of stainless steel is a bright treatment for the surface of stainless steel workpieces. The workpiece to be thrown is used as the anode, and the insoluble metal is used as the cathode. The two poles are immersed in the electrolytic cell at the same time, and direct current is applied to produce selective anode dissolution. The surface of the workpiece is gradually leveled. The principle of electrolytic polishing of stainless steel is generally recognized as the mucosal theory. The theory is mainly: the metal ions detached from the workpiece and the phosphoric acid in the polishing solution form a phosphate film that is adsorbed on the surface of the workpiece. This mucosa is thinner in the convexes and thicker in the concavities, because the current density in the convexes is high. The process of dissolving fast, with the flow of the mucosa, the unevenness is constantly changing, and the rough surface is gradually flattened.
